What is Fat?

We all know fatty foods are always very tasty. It is actually essential for of our diet and nutrition, we cannot live without it.

  • 1 gram of fat contains 9 calories, much more than a gram of protein or carbohydrate, whereas protein or carbohydrate contains only 4 calories
  • Fat acts as a cushion to help protect our vital organs.
  • Fat enables our bodies to process Vitamins A, D, E and K, which are all fat soluble and vital for good health
  • Fat contains Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) which is good heart & immune system. So now you know why there is word called “Essential” in EFA

So above points are positive/good points of Fat. What if it gets overloaded in our body? Obviously we will get several health issues like heart attack, fatty liver, prone to diabetes, obesity, pregnancy related issues & many more. The Fats can be classified as Good & Bad fat.

So what is a Good fat?
Technically this fat is called Unsaturated Fats & this is usually very less in us reason due to food habit. So opposite to Unsaturated fat is Saturated fat which not so good for us
